Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 August 2026

Inkstone ("the app") is an offline Android board game — five in a row, played on paper — published by The Basement Coders. This policy explains what data the app does and does not handle.

Summary

Data the app stores on your device

The following are stored locally only and are never transmitted to the developer:

The app's data is excluded from Android's cloud backup, so none of it leaves the phone that way either. You can erase all of it by clearing the app's storage or by uninstalling the app. Settings also carries a button that forgets every record while leaving the game on the paper alone.

Sharing a board, and keeping a copy of your record

When you send a finished board or your scores page, the app draws it, hands the image to Android's own share sheet and forgets about it. You choose where it goes. The app has no account anywhere, uploads nothing itself and keeps no copy.

Your record can also be written to a file and read back. The phone's own file picker chooses where that file goes and which file comes back, so the app asks for no storage permission and opens no connection of its own. It writes one file and reads one file.

Network access

The app declares the internet permission for advertising only (see below). Playing a game needs no network at all, and nothing about the games you have played is ever sent anywhere.

Advertising

This section applies only if and when ads are enabled in a released version. They are not enabled in the current release, and the current release does not request an advertising identifier.

If the app displays ads, it uses Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use certain data (such as device and advertising identifiers) to serve and measure ads, as described in Google's Privacy Policy. Where required, the app presents a consent prompt (Google User Messaging Platform) so you can control personalized advertising. An ad appears at a break between games — after the result card has been put away, on the way to the next game — and the app that shows it cannot see who won.

Any purchase offered to remove ads unlocks no content: every board size, rule set and opponent is free from the first launch either way.

Children's privacy

Inkstone does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
