Emulsion ("the app") is an offline Android color puzzle published by The Basement Coders. This policy explains what data the app does and does not handle.
Summary
- No account is required. Emulsion has no login and does not ask for your name, email, or any personal identifier.
- Your scores stay on your device. Settings, the board you are part-way through and your scores are stored locally and are never uploaded to us.
- No analytics or tracking SDKs are included by the developer.
- The game works fully offline. There is no server, no sync and no account to lose progress from.
Data the app stores on your device
The following are stored locally only and are never transmitted to the developer:
- App settings — the background, sound and vibration, the language, the difficulty and the number of undos per board.
- The board you are part-way through, so closing the app and coming back puts you on the same board with the same moves made.
- Your scores: for each difficulty, how many boards you have solved, how many you solved in the fewest moves, and how close your best finish came.
The app's data is excluded from Android's cloud backup, so none of it leaves the phone that way either. You can erase all of it by clearing the app's storage or by uninstalling the app. Settings also carries a button that clears every score while leaving the board you are on alone.
Keeping a copy of your scores
Your scores can be written to a file and read back, here or on another phone. The phone's own file picker chooses where that file goes and which file comes back, so the app asks for no storage permission and opens no connection of its own. It writes one file and reads one file.
Network access
The app declares the internet permission for advertising only (see below). Every board ships inside the app, playing needs no network at all, and nothing about the boards you have played is ever sent anywhere.
Advertising
This section applies only if and when ads are enabled in a released version. They are not enabled in the current release, and the current release does not request an advertising identifier.
If the app displays ads, it uses Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use certain data (such as device and advertising identifiers) to serve and measure ads, as described in Google's Privacy Policy. Where required, the app presents a consent prompt (Google User Messaging Platform) so you can control personalized advertising. An ad appears at a break between boards — after the result card has been put away, on the way to the next board — and the app that shows it cannot see whether you won.
Any purchase offered to remove ads unlocks no content: every board size, color count and difficulty is free from the first launch either way.
Children's privacy
Emulsion does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
