Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 August 2026

Copybook ("the app") is an offline Android game of dots and boxes, published by The Basement Coders. This policy explains what data the app does and does not handle.

Summary

Data the app stores on your device

The following are stored locally only and are never transmitted to the developer:

You can erase all of this at any time by clearing scores in the app's settings, by clearing the app's storage, or by uninstalling the app.

Network access

The app declares the internet permission for advertising only (see below). Playing a game — against the computer or against another person on the same phone — needs no network at all, and nothing about a match is ever sent anywhere.

Advertising

This section applies only if and when ads are enabled in a released version. They are not enabled in the current release.

If the app displays ads, it uses Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use certain data (such as device and advertising identifiers) to serve and measure ads, as described in Google's Privacy Policy. Where required, the app presents a consent prompt (Google User Messaging Platform) so you can control personalized advertising. Ads, if present, are shown between games rather than during one, and never immediately after you have won.

A single optional in-app purchase removes ads permanently. It unlocks no content: every board size, difficulty and appearance option is free from the first launch either way.

Donations

The app links to a PayPal page where you can voluntarily support development. Following that link takes you out of the app and into PayPal, whose own privacy policy then applies. A donation is not a purchase — it buys nothing in the app and changes nothing about it.

Children's privacy

Copybook does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new "last updated" date.
